Hallettsville is a town known for its quintessential Texan hospitality and rich German and Czech heritage (due to the great number of Czech and German immigrants who took residence here in the 1800s). Located in the southeast region of Texas, Hallettsville serves as the county seat of Lavaca County. The city is crossed by U.S. Highway 90 and 77, which intersect at the heart of the town.

Community Facilities

Hallettsville City Park, which is located in the northern part of the town, has lots of playground facilities for children, as well as various recreational and sports facilities. These facilities include fitness stations, extensive walking and biking trails, outdoor picnic pavilions, tennis, softball, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball courts and a little league field. The Park also contains a 9-hole, par-36 golf course, a clubhouse and a youth center

  • As the home of the Texas Championship Domino Hall of Fame, Hallettsville holds a domino tournament every January.
  • The AnnnualKolache Fest & Parade held every last Saturday of September celebrates Hallettsville’s rich German & Czech Heritage through music, fun games and activities.
  • Other signature events include Festival of Lights, State Championship Fiddler’s Frolic, Big Buck Contest, and the South Texas Polka & Sausage Festival.
